Shield is a programme for individuals who want to establish their own innovative company.

Shield is a unique innovation programme comprising of highly interactive workshops which enable individuals to:

• Identify their key business skills
• Spot marketing opportunities
• Generate new ideas for satisfying market needs
• Select novel new concepts
• Commercialise new ideas
• Launch new businesses

Thus, Shield takes individuals through the entire process of developing and launching a new business. Hundreds of new companies have been formed through the Shield programme

Usually, the course is sponsored by a local council and is free to individuals. Clients have included Sunderland Council, North Tyneside Council, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Hull Council and Crewe Council.

This programme is of particular interest to all organisations who are interested in stimulating innovative economic growth. In the UK, this will include: Council economic development departments, Business Links and Learning and Skills Councils.
